Students will explore geography through hands on experiences mining for rocks and minerals. In an authentic way, students will identify and categorize the characteristics of rocks and minerals. They will be able to see close up the different types of rock groups- igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic.
In doing so, students will then be able to articulate why rocks and minerals are useful in every day use. They will be able to understand the process of how rocks and minerals make up our land, and that people use Earth's resources to make things and grow the food we need to survive.
