Having smaller stools that are easy to move around the classroom will help with small group learning. It will make it easier for my students that use ASL (American Sign Language) to move around so they can see their interpreter. The stools and cushions will also allow students the opportunity to take the seat they find most comfortable with them so that they can concentrate on their learning instead of having to sit in hard, uncomfortable chairs.
When students have the ability to move, their brains work better. If students have stools and cushions, they can easily move around the classroom, still have a specific spot to sit, and can focus their minds on the task the teacher is giving them. Flexible seats give the students more choices to be able to see the teacher, move their bodies, and be responsible for getting their work done.
