I teach a 4th and 5th grade class in a low socio-economic neighborhood where my students experience emotional and social difficulties. These issues affect my students learning abilities and they come into my classroom with leaning abilities that stem from special needs to above grade level. Aside from coping with their emotional and social difficulties they are in the process of learning English. The majority of my students are English language learners and rely on their visual skills to acquire understanding of the concepts and skills that are taught throughout the year.
