I took over the Physical Education program after their Physical Education teacher took another position outside of the district just 2 weeks into their school year. They are inner city K - 8 students who have really been working hard since I came to them on September 9, 2013. We have been working hard on the P.E. State fitness tests which is comprised of push ups, sit ups, a flexibility assessment and a 1 mile run component. My students attend a community school where 100% receive free breakfast and lunch. My students are predominately Hispanic and African American. They are very appreciative of my energy and have recognized my work ethic and ability to connect and relate to them, which has been very helpful. The staff here at the school are all very helpful. We have a comprehensive community approach. Most schools that I have worked at say the same but I could argue that it is not so.
