My students attend a special education school for students with Autism in New York City. They all come from challenging backgrounds and thrive in a smaller school setting. My students are all unique and special in their own way. Three of them communicate verbally and 3 communicate through the usage of picture symbols. The usage of materials that they can all use together is important for socialization together, because social awareness is challenging for children with Autism. They are all bright, happy children who come to school with smiles on their faces.
