Many of my students struggle with the beginning of the school day. They may come to school angry, tired or sad. Beginning our school day with hands-on activities allows them to settle into school before the work begins.
The students can work independently or with others giving the teacher a chance to check in with each student and check on their emotional well-being. It allows them to chat with their friends building a sense of community and friendship. The students will feel less stressed and happy to be at school.
