Students get rewarded after they read a book, complete their work and participate in the class. Most of my students are English learners. They need to read and write as much as they can to become sucessful. Most of the students have not advance in their ELPAC levels. Most of them are in Level 1 (beginning). Students need to be motivated to learn to read and write. Reading and writing happens everyday in my classroom. Students read aloud to a peer or to me. They write a brief summary of the book they read. Students read for fluency and comprehension. They earn a sticker if they attended the task. At the end of the week they get a reward.
