My students have been requesting modern books to be added to our reading inventory. After reading the book Fish in a Tree, I immediately wanted to share it with my students. I believe this would be a great book to read as a class. The story of the book would help students better understand their peers who deal with learning disabilities. The book would facilitate conversations about how difficult and frustrating this can be for students, but also how a disability doesn't make a student different in a negative way.
My goal as a teacher is to instill acceptance and respect in my students and I feel this class set of Fish in a Tree would assist me in doing this. All of the sixth grade students at my middle school would benefit from having the opportunity to read this book. Thank you for your consideration.
