My students will be starting a unit on Greek Mythology following our fourth grade curriculum. To accompany this unit, I would like to run three literature circles with The Lightning Thief. This will not only enhance my students' comprehension of Greek Mythology but it will also introduce them to an amazing author Rick Riordan.
There are so many students who tell me almost daily that they can't find anything good to read. I want to help them by introducing them to Rick Riordan who has multiple award winning books and series. I myself have read almost all of his books and find them to be books I don't want to put down. I'm hoping my students will feel the same way about "The Lightning Thief" and in turn will seek out more of his books.
