My students are 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students who attend the Applied Technology Center (Vo-Tech) in our district. The students attend two high schools in neighboring cities and are combined in my classes. They expressed interest in education for a career choice, some as elementary or secondary teachers others in the medical profession on the pediatric side.
The curriculum for Teacher Academy covers many aspects of education and lays a foundation for their coursework in college. We study human growth and development, history and trends in education, classroom management, and many other topics important to educators. This knowledge of education is being utilized as they work in classrooms observing and assisting teachers in many capacities. They are making a difference with students as they work with individuals and small groups.
