Energetic, curious, fun and amazing are all adjectives that help to describe my students. They range between the ages of 14 and 17 and they are current 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. The community in which my students reside is largely urban. The average family size is 3 and the annual income base per family is 26,000. As our school numbers continue to decline due to a recent natural disaster that our community experienced, so does our diversity percentage. It is approximately 99 percent African-American currently and most of them receive free or reduced lunch.
