Children are born with a natural curiosity about the world around them. Unfortunately, this is not always fostered at home or in school. I want to capitalize on my students' curiosity and creativity with this project by giving them time each day to explore and create. My goal is to allow my students a chance each morning, as we begin our day, to use the STEM items. By starting their day with fun, they will be ready to work hard later in the day.
Creating today's learners to be tomorrow's leaders is the one goal of this project. Another goal is for my students to see themselves as scientists/inventors. By allowing time for exploration and assigned tasks, the students will become risk takers and realize that you can learn as much from failure (or perceived failure) as you can from success. I want my students to develop grit and perseverance through this project as they create and code. This project also fosters team work and sharing of ideas through the opportunity to work together to create and program.
