I Can Read! Readers and Lakeshore Fiction and Non-Fiction Sight Word Readers will help my students practice reading using the strategies from the phonics lessons that we use daily at school. We practice reading at school, but since their reading levels are so low, the students need to practice daily at home as well in order to reach the goal of reading proficiency for third grade. These leveled readers are a key component to a successful year of reading for my students.
It takes a tremendous amount of practice to become an excellent reader. Students need to read a balance of fiction and non-fiction books to become proficient readers. They need books that pique their interests. Surely, each student will find books that are enjoyable to read which will greatly benefit the process.
