Students will use the easel to complete writing assignments using illustrations and key words to compose informative/explanatory texts in which they name what they are writing about and supply some information about the topic. The key details will be displayed on the easel in graphic organizer form with illustrations to support the key details.
Students will increase their knowledge about various topics. For instance, they will learn what happens in winter by reading informational text about snow, trees, sports, and animals. Next, as a class we will make the graphic organizer (chart) on the easel titled Winter. Students will use the information displayed on the easel to write 1-3 sentences on topic. Students may write: It snows. It is cold. Florida is warm.
