Future Focus is the big idea of my course, College Transition. We are a new course and we are not provided with any funds for any supplies. The course focuses on plans for after high school. Some students plan on college, community college, juco, etc. Others take the trade school route or even working for a year. I support whatever decision they make. Feeling success in high school is so important and sometimes a box a tools is all they need. I will be making table/project/check-out boxes of tools. Each box will be named a college, juco, trade school, even jobs. I will include a fun fact sheet in each box along with supplies: colored pens and pencils, scissors, glue sticks, highlighters, markers, crayons, blue/black pens. The boxes will be for use in my classroom, however, I also want to develop a check-out system for students who may need supplies over the weekend. This will progress over the school year. The chairs are alternative seating for my classroom. I want my students to feel more adult and give them more choices...including seat choice. Future Focus is about choice. Students will be empowered throughout the year with their choices for their tomorrow and it all starts on day one. I hope my Future Focus toolboxes and planners give students confidence in each assignment they are assigned for my class or others. They learn the importance of planners in my class as well.
