My students are 4th through 7th graders. Most students like to be active, do things that are fun, and be able to hang out with friends. Our school promotes healthy habits that aim to develop the whole child: emotional, academically, and physically. Many of our student are impoverished and have limited resources outside of school. The LAPS program was started at the elementary level and has continued to grow in popularity with kids. At one point within one of our district's elementary settings, I supervised 172 students each morning who came out, rain or shine, to run LAPS and were disappointed when I wasn't there due to severe weather. I have also enjoyed this program as over the last three years I know the names of over 300 students who I have had the privilege of interacting with during this time each day. LAPS is a win/win program that benefits the lives students and teachers!
