My high school special education students who read between a 3rd and 5th grade level will have the opportunity to read and enjoy the classics like their peers. My students struggle with comprehension and finding books to read at their level that keeps their interest.
Help me, help them get excited about reading with these books, Journey to the Center of the Earth, and Tom Sawyer. My English students picked out these titles to read out of all the books that were presented to them. Struggling readers will often pick up a thinner book to read because they are less intimidating than a typical book.
