I teach Kindergarten in a high-poverty school in Oregon. Over 80% of our students live in poverty. Our kindergarteners come to school without being exposed to art. Many have never used scissors or had the opportunity to create anything through the visual arts. They come to school excited to try new materials and they LOVE to paint! They need access to art materials to develop both their imaginations and their fine motor skills.
