My focus as a teacher this year is to get my students THINKING! That may sound like an obvious goal, but I want my students to become better at critical thinking on their own. By asking questions, justifying their answers, and sharing among their peers, I want my students to take a more central role in their own understanding and learning. I hope to facilitate this in my classroom by providing more opportunities for students to work collaboratively, by providing feedback that helps support the learning without taking over the learning, and by allowing more time for self reflection as students determine their strengths and weaknesses.
