My students are fantastic! I teach social studies in the high school of a small K-12 school in the Pacific NW. Over the course of the four years that I have students in my classes, I see them grow from barely understanding the broad picture of modern world history to being able to recite and analyze the foundations of not just our country, but of countries around the world. I require them to frequently "become the teacher" and give presentations that help enlighten their classmates as to the intricacies of our planet and the human societies on it. Our school stresses that students find the balance between being a part of a community and working in groups with the joy of finding your own passion and spending countless hours pursuing it in creative and engaged solitude.
