My students are Kindergarteners, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders in special education who have specific learning disabilities in reading, math, and several of them have severe speech and language disorders. These students attend a Title 1 school in a highly diverse urban community. Most of my students are disadvantaged emotionally, mentally, socially, and economically. Despite these challenges that can compound their learning difficulties I would say 98% of my students love school, love coming to Resource, and desire to be successful learners. My students have dreams of becoming a police officer, an FBI agent, a veterinarian, and a pediatrician to name a few jobs. Some of my kids do not know what future possibilities lay before them and need teachers who can help them discover those opportunities.
