Our Special Education Kindergarten classroom is a part of an early childhood center serving children in Head Start, New Mexico Pre-K programs, and nine Kindergarten classrooms. We are the Bumble Bee class and there are no limits on our learning. Our classroom is comprised of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Speech/language Impairments, Learning Disabilities, and Developmental Delays. We learn. We just learn differently. We run, jump, and climb with our same grade peers. We learn to play with each other. We learn it is OK to disagree and how to disagree without fighting. We eat with our friends in the cafeteria and go to assemblies and field trips. Our same grade peers are learning about us and we work together to be safe at school. We learn our letter names and letter sounds. We count, sort, add, and even subtract. We write in all different ways to communicate our thoughts. We learn, learn, learn, and we play, play, play. Exactly what kindergartners do.
