This project will provide a new botball robot for our program. We have a few older models that are wearing out and need replacement to use with the devices our district provides. The cost to repair the old robots is excessive and they do not function like the newer models.
Learning the new concepts of programming and working with the robot will be easier for our students to understand with this new robot.
Instruction will follow the curriculum, as opposed to having to make adjustments in the instruction with the old model. Students will be able to follow the illustrations in the curriculum to help our visual learners and it will aid them in applying the new skills to write their programs. Students will be able to save their programming onto the bot itself and will be able to use iPads or laptops for that task. With the old models, students had to save all programs onto the computer and we were constantly running into technical difficulties due to the age of our older computers. Students would often work hard to complete a junior botball challenge and then have it lost while trying to save it on the old computer.
We have a long list of students ready to start using this robot. This new model also allows more than one device to be used with the same robot. We want to offer our program to as many students as possible and this newer robot will allow us to reach more students. Your help is appreciated.
