My pre-school - 8th grade students have disabilities and receive special education mental health services so that they can gain the social and emotional skills to meet the demands of school and be successful in school and in life. They are heavily impacted by other factors such as low socioeconomic status, military families, traumatic histories, and many more. Half of the students with whom I work are in self-contained classrooms for students with serious emotional disabilities that cannot currently function in the general education setting. My students often have a very difficult time engaging in school and in counseling to help them improve their social-emotional skills.
About my class
