This set of Chromebooks will make a difference in my classroom as I will be able to set up a Technology Learning Station in which students can rotate daily. Students have several programs that they use digitally such as I-Ready, Reflex, Gizmos, and online textbooks. However, due to the lack of resources they are not all not able to use these programs as often. These Chromebooks would allow more students to access the programs more frequently.
One of the programs that has really made a difference in my class is Gizmos. These online simulations help my students better understand challenging math and science concepts through inquiry and exploration. Students are actively engaged when completing modules and enjoy using the program hands on. Most of the Gizmos we complete in class are through whole group instruction, however if my classroom had the Technology Center my students would have more opportunities to interact with the Gizmos individually or in small groups.
Other ways the Technology Center will be used is to meet their I-Ready and Reflex weekly goals. These programs are designed to meet the individual needs of each student and helps build math fluency. Many of my students do not have the technology resources at home that are necessary to meet these weekly goals. Having access to these programs is a critical component to their success.
