My students have to deal with poverty, undernourishment, migrant schedules, and gangs on a daily basis. School is their only escape and they show up every day willing and eager to learn. I have a first and second grade combo class this year, so I have 30 students ranging in age from five to eight years old. Most students are below grade level in reading and math. I have found that using technology in class keeps the students engaged and interactive.
