Focus is essential during a 15 minute guided reading/math group. Using a stability ball/jellyfish chairs will allow students to move as needed while improving their focus. Flexible seating has been proven to not only improve focus, but to calm the wiggles, allow teachers to teach more effectively, teach students better self control, improve posture, and make group time more comfortable. Adding this seating to my table will help decrease interruptions and increase learning. Second grade is one of the most important grades in a child's school career as we learn how to read and think critically. Staying alert and focused will help my students to not only meet their goals, but also to exceed them.
