We are a public kindergarten located in Vermont and our children benefit from an education that includes a purposeful, respectful and joyful study of the natural world. Each week, kindergartners participate in a three hour session in the forest. The outdoors becomes our second classroom as we look for patterns in nature, use mathematical language, write about our observations and reflections and develop lifelong habits of scientific inquiry. Knowledge of the natural world leads to understanding, appreciation and respect. Nature Adventure activities reinforce our classroom teachings around the need to care for yourself so that you may also be able to care for others and ultimately to help take care of the world around you.
