A majority of my students come from homes in which English is not the primary language, yet they are required to read, write, and speak English 7 1/2 hours a day. Due to this, many of my students struggle to be on grade level with their English speaking peers. My school is a Title 1 school. Our daily vision is to not only inspire but help each student reach his or her fullest potential. Many of my students come from homes that are not only low income but also homes that have both parents working in order to meet daily survival needs. Many of the parents do not speak English, therefore it is difficult for them to reinforce their child's learning at home. A great deal of what my students learn is done solely at school, and they need every opportunity to not only practice but apply what they learn at school.
