Our school is great! However, there is a very clear line between the upper level students and lower level students. My students are academically lower than most of their peers in our school. This is due to little support at home and lack of interest in common literary texts. My students have minimal interest in most subjects while at school and are only at school because they have to be. When I introduce the stereotypically "boring" texts my students have a difficult time at first, but when I offer supplement texts they tend to gravitate toward the story. They find the graphic aspect interesting and it helps them understand the story.
