Tri-Cities is a great school located in a low-income neighborhood with a Visual and Performing Arts Magnet Program. Every year I'm blown away with how incredibly talented my students are in the classroom, on the stage and on athletic fields. They face challenges that most adults wouldn't even know how to handle but yet overcome them with grace and dignity. Everyday I come prepared to teach my students how to be successful students and citizens but they always end up teaching me what life is truly about -- love and perseverance. The girls I coach are extremely talented, wonderfully creative and have a true heart to see each other succeed. They work together so well as a collective unit and have a genuine love for each other. Unfortunately -- many of the girls come from families that do not have the funds that would allow them to participate on the team. Lowering the overhead costs will give opportunity to the girls who deserve to play on this team to do just that.
