I teach the most amazing little kiddos in a very rural, small town in southern Virginia. My students come from loving, but very impoverished families. Providing basic needs such as food and clothing is a challenge. As much as most parents would love to, its simply impossible to provide the luxuries of crayons, toys, and most importantly, books to read. My students come to me hungry, clothes are worn thin.
I am their Kindergarten teacher and it is my job to fill in the gaps so that each and every student, regardless of where they come from, can be given a chance to laugh, learn and grow. Despite their struggles, my students are kind and loving. They fill my day with love and laughter. They need so much more than I can give, but I always give them everything I have.
