All my students have disabilities. Some students are diagnosed with autism and some are diagnosed with intellectual disability and some have both. Often teaching and learning to play basketball is hard for students with such disability. Our school is Title I school which means overall school students'€™ population is low income and school API score is pretty low. School does not have enough money to buy necessary equipment for students with disabilities.
My students love to play all sports including basketball. Sometime they come out during lunch to play with non-disabled students as well, but majority of students are still in a process of learning to pass and dribble. Some students are very active and some are very sedentary. Some have enough strength to shoot the ball to the basket, but some cannot reach the half way to the rim.
