Our school was devastated by super storm Sandy. We have only just returned back on January 7, 2013. Despite living in a high poverty area, I am proud to say that my students spirits are high in energy and optimism. Ours is a NYC public school that houses K-8 grades. The middle school students are the big brothers and sisters who take their jobs as role models very seriously. So many of my students lost their possessions in the storm but their tenacity and determination to meet their goals has not changed. They are not going to let a "little something" like Sandy undermine their resolve to do well and they continue to strive for excellence. They are inspiring!
