I will be teaching 1st grade this year after spending numerous years teaching Special Education, 5th Grade, and 3rd grade. My school is going into it's second year as a Traditional Academy and we are teaching the students one year above their academic level. Many of the students I will be working with I worked with during a buddy reading program my 3rd grade students and I did during the last school year. These students love to read but need more of a variety to read from. I am responsible for teaching all academic areas and finding the resources can be time consuming and expensive.
