My students are an incredibly diverse group with varying needs. I have some students working at a 2nd and 3rd grade level in mathematics, and others who need college level instruction. In order to meet all of their needs and push them in the direction necessary to meet their potential, I need to do a lot of small group instruction. I am planning to use 10 Chromebooks for center time in each of my classes so groups can use them to access different online resources. While my school has access to some Chromebooks, there are 30 to be shared with 200 students. There are a variety of ways a small set of ten Chromebooks would be used during instruction. One way is students will work together on an inquiry or interactive activity to challenge and push themselves to the next level. Another way is that Individual students can use them for intervention programs, such as IXL, Khan Academy or Buzz Math. Additionally, students would be able to check them out during homework help time or assessment reviews. Lastly, students will be able to use them for in-class assessments to get immediate feedback, and to practice for the NWEA and PARCC. Overall, Having a small set to use daily during instruction will greatly benefit my amazing middle schoolers.
