As a speech-language pathologist, I work with students who have mild to significant language delays. A majority of my students are in an early childhood program and have difficulties understanding language, expressing themselves, and communicating effectively with other students. The reality is that many of my school's students live below the poverty line. My students don't always have the best start in life.
