My students will operate a coffee shop. They will learn about financial literacy while they operate the shop. Students will make all the decisions. They will keep balance sheets and see if they are making a profit or losing money. They will operate for 30 minutes a day at school. I will supervise but they will make the decisions. They will keep up with expenses, set prices, and all other business related fees.
They will also create a real world connection between learning economics and applying the concepts to daily life. Students will learn valuable economic concepts as they operate a small coffee shop. The money raised will be donated to Shop with the Principal to purchase gifts for children in our school at Christmas. We will also use money of the food pantry for students who are struggling with food insecurity in the difficult time.
