My students live in a highly impoverished area. The students in my special education kindergarten classroom are not only disadvantaged economically, but they also have been found eligible for special education services due to a severe deficit in language skills, articulation and other academic areas. I teach a variety of students with different disabilities including, autism, language impairments, developmental delays, specific learning disabilities, and other heath impairments.
My students are highly motivated to learn about the world but have a lack of exposure. Our school has a wonderful staff with wonderful teachers who try their best to enhance the learning of each individual student. We are an AVID school, which means we believe each and everyone one of our students can and will attend college.
