My students are the heart and soul of promise! They are tough, yet gentle when given the opportunity to be heard. They show great strength in the face of so much adversity. Nestled within the heart of the inner city, the students at our middle school endure tough streets, tougher neighborhoods, and still find the inner strength to come to school eager to learn. I have had the privilege of teaching many of my current students for the past two and a half years, and look forward to guiding them at the end of the school year towards their next endeavor: high school! Our school consists primarily of minority students, specifically Hispanic, African American and Asian among others, who are part of low-income families. Still, you wouldn't know it upon seeing them, with the level of pride and care they have for what they have. The students at our school have shown tremendous amount of loyalty to their peers, their families, and even their teachers! They are precious diamonds in the rough.
