I am the school Library Information Specialist in a K-5 school in a small Illinois district. I teach library skills to almost 600 students and run the school library. Approximately 90% of my students are low-income, 76% African-American and 19% Hispanic. 98% of our population is eligible for free or reduced lunch and 13% are limited English proficient. Many of our students do not have computers at home or, they have them but the Internet is not working. There are no student computers in the library.
