I am a school media specialist in a primary school (4K-2nd grade). This year, our school focus will be on helping the "whole child" by providing an environment that supports our students' emotional, social, cultural, and educational needs. I currently have only a few books related to social and emotional needs in our media center. The books that I have chosen will be used by me and classroom teachers, for example, as read alouds each morning to start the day. Whether a student has come to school angry, happy, sad, etc... there will be a book that he/she can relate to.
