My students attend a public pre-kindergarten school based on income or language qualifier. They are also in the Headstart ESL classroom meaning they are in the bottom 10% poverty level. Many of these students do not have literature in their homes. Prekindergarten is their first glance at literature, and it is imperative to have an engaging and enriched literacy program with teacher scaffolding.
