This project is to provide art supplies for my Design Lab class. In addition to the mentoring piece, my topic is 鈥淒raw with Me!鈥 In this class, I will have a range of students, from those whose passion is to draw to those who, like me, are just learning. We have drawing resources we will use such as 鈥淎rt Hub For Kids,鈥 which is more of a cartoon-style drawing to Monart, which teaches visual perception and fundamental drawing skills. By learning and using the five basic elements of shape, students will be able to develop their drawing skills in a non-competitive environment that promotes confidence and self-esteem.
Now that we have the drawing resources, we need the tools to bring our drawings to life! Students will create their drawings in their own sketchbooks. I am requesting 2 per person, as this is a 5-month course. Graphite pencils can be used to create everything from simple drawings to detailed sketches. Sharpies are used to go over pencil outlines to make drawings pop. The oil pastels allow the students to add bright, rich, thick color to the student's drawings with less mess than paint during a short class period. Using these materials students will also be able to practice different shading techniques to make their drawings look more realistic and/or three-dimensional.
