First graders are active! It's a good thing! Those dendrites in their brains need motion to keep growing! I support that. My classroom always has a buzz of learning going on. They work with partners, groups, alone, with me or all! To encourage this collaborative work model, I have made my classroom into a workspace. We use tables, counters, the floor, desks, and multiple seating arrangements to encourage students to discuss, create, and share ideas to help educate all of us! We are a team. A team helps each other. To help faciliate this model, I would like to add six wobble chairs to our flexible seating arrangments. I have some students who work better in an active environment. To allow for their movements, the chairs would allow for motion without disturbing or distracting others.
