I want some white boards and math manipulatives to increase engagement in my math classroom. The students come with a variety of learning styles and challenges and we need hands on materials to develop meaning and to be able to honor the many hands on learners in the school. Most of these students have previously failed a high school math class and need more instructional support and opportunities. Providing individual white boards will increase student accountability as well as increase engagement. For many of these students graduation is just one step towards changing their pattern of poverty. The visuals will help students visualize patterns as well as access many difficult geometry task. Providing students access opens doors to success which will in turn lead to college and/or career.
