I teach kindergarten and for the most part, my students are in need of some extra TLC. We have many motivated and energetic teachers that get in there and do what is needed to help these children succeed, but it can be a difficult task when they go home to a rough neighborhood. These students WANT to learn, and WANT to be at school more than anything. Some of my students have to hide snacks I give them so they can eat over the weekend, others just need hugs everyday to feel that connection. Life is difficult for most of my students, but they have no idea what is normal and what isn't. I want to give them everything I have to help them move on to be successful throughout their entire learning career. Even in Kindergarten we say "after high school I'm going to college!"
