My students are 5th and 6th graders at a public Montessori school in a rural community in California. One-third of the students in my town live in poverty. At my school, even with numerous budget cuts, we still strive to educate the whole child. In my classroom we do lots of math and reading, but we also do plenty of art, PE, science, and even musical theater. We try to make our school a place where kids learn, have fun, and feel the freedom of learning to be themselves.
