My students are among the brightest in the city, yet many come from disadvantaged households. They belong to many different ethnic groups, and therefore appreciate learning about other cultures. Many, however, have never left their own neighborhood, and few have the opportunity to travel abroad. They are eager to learn about "real Italians", not just what they are taught from the textbook.
