My school is a title 1 elementary school (meaning 50% or more students receive free and/or reduced lunch). This school year a few of my students were homeless, or single income families who parents continue to struggle.
In saying all that negativity, those peanuts came to school ready to learn. Ranging from 6-7 years old, the first graders appreciated everything from pencils to pretzels!
My class, is diverse in ethnicity's and special needs. This year I had two emotionally disturbed children who strive with structure. All students need a balance of play and school work! We spend most of our time on the carpet, sharing thoughts, ideas or our plans for the weekend!
For language arts and math, students cramp together to learn on the white board. After a lot of learning, they enjoy playing clap diddly so to release some steam! This carpet will allow them the freedom to learn and play in comfort!
